Ferris State Men's Golf Earns 11th Consecutive NCAA Tourney Berth!

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team will be making its 11th NCAA Tournament Regional appearance in a row as the Bulldogs have earned a trip to Wisconsin for the 2013 Central/Midwest Super Regional, which will take place May 6-8 at The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, Wis.

The announcement of 80 teams and 32 individual student-athletes for regional competition was released Friday (April 26) by the NCAA-II Men's Golf Selection Committee.

The Central/Midwest Regional is being hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and will consist of 10 teams from the Midwest Region along with 10 from the Central Region.  Four individuals from each region will also compete in the 54-hole tournament.

The top five teams and the top two individuals not affiliated with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the 2013 NCAA-II Men's Golf Championships slated for May 20-24 at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.

Along with number three seed Ferris State, those teams from the Midwest Region who will be making the super regional tourney appearance are top-seeded Missouri-St. Louis, Wayne State, FSU, Indianapolis, Tiffin, Grand Valley State, Bellarmine (Ky.), Lewis (Ill.), Wisconsin-Parkside and Ohio Dominican in respective seeding order.

Central Oklahoma is the Central Region's top seed and followed by Southwestern Oklahoma State, Central Missouri, Washburn (Kan.), Northeastern State (Okla.), Arkansas Tech, Henderson State (Ark.), Nebraska-Kearney, Southeastern Oklahoma State and St. Cloud State (Minn.).

Ferris State, under the direction of head coach Mike Mignano, posted a third-place performance at the 2010 NCAA-II Midwest/South Central Super Regional (May 3-5) in Duncan, Okla.  The placing was high enough for the Bulldogs to make their 14th appearance at nationals in the program's history as FSU would register a school-best effort by tying for seventh place in the 2010 NCAA-II National Championships (May 18-21) in Noblesville, Ind. 

A year ago (2012), FSU finished tied for 10th in the super regional competition and failed to advance to the national championships in action at Jefferson City, Mo.

Ferris State placed sixth or better in all four of its fall tournaments this campaign, including a runner-up finish in the 2012 GLIAC Championships along with winning the Motor City Invitational. The Bulldogs currently have three top five tourney finishes to date this spring and have been among the top eight squads in all four spring outings.
