Men's Golf Earns Runner-Up Honors In GLIAC Preview Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team claimed runner-up honors over the weekend (April 27) in the GLIAC Preview event held at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Mich.

The Bulldogs tallied a 302 team score to finish only two strokes behind team champion Ashland, which registered a 12-over par 300 score on the par 72 course measuring 7,318 yards.

The event serves as a preview to next fall's GLIAC Championships that will be held on the same course and only players expected to return next fall took part in the tournament.

Ferris State was led by Luke Trocchio, who claimed individual champion honors with an even-par 72 score on the day.

Following Trocchio was Trent Davison in a tie for seventh place with a three-over par 75 score.

Chris Eaton finished next for the Bulldogs with a 76, which was good for a share of 11th place overall.

Ben Cook and Andrew Jared both registered 79's to finish in a tie for 17th place.

Finally, a pair of Bulldogs, Sam Stark and Zach Keifer, competed as individuals.  Stark also shared 17th place with a 79 while Keifer posted an 80 to finish tied for 24th on the day.

Ferris State has received its 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and the Bulldogs will compete in the 2013 NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional set to take place May 6-8 at The Club at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, Wis.
