Men's Golf Moves Up Two Places On Day Two At NCAA Super Regional

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team moved up a couple places and is only five strokes away from fifth place and an opportunity to advance to the national championships after day two action at the 2013 NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Super Regional Tournament on Tuesday (May 7) in Kenosha, Wis.

Ferris State fired a 292 total in the second round and is currently in eighth place following 36 holes of action at the super regional event being held at The Club at Strawberry Creek.  The regional is being hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside.

Missouri-St. Louis and Central Oklahoma share the team lead heading into the third and final day with 573 team scores followed by Central Missouri (574), Bellarmine (579) and Southwestern Oklahoma State (582) in the top five overall.  Grand Valley State owns a 583 total while Northeastern State (Okla.) is at 584 in front of the Bulldogs heading into the final 18 holes of action.

Ben Cook leads the Bulldogs individually as he is tied for 20th in the field with a 145 total.  Cook posted a 74 on Tuesday after an opening-round 71 figure on Monday.

Next in line for Ferris State are both Andrew Jared and Chris Eaton, who are tied for 24th overall with 147 totals.  Each shot a 73 in the second round following identical 74 scores in round one.

The Bulldogs' Trent Davison is tied for 31st overall at 148 with an impressive day two score of even-par 72.

Finally, Luke Trocchio is tied for 89th overall at 156 for the tournament.  He was four strokes better on day two as he came in with a 76 score.

The Central/Midwest Regional is being hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and consists of 10 teams from the Midwest Region along with 10 from the Central Region.  Four individuals from each region are also competing in the 54-hole tournament.

The top five teams and the top two individuals not affiliated with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the 2013 NCAA-II Men's Golf Championships slated for May 20-24 at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.

The third and final round in the 54-hole tournament takes place on Wednesday (May 8).

The Bulldogs, under sixth-year head coach Mike Mignano, are making their 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in men's golf.
