Bulldog Men's Golf Finishes 10th Overall In NCAA Super Regional Play

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team wrapped up action in the 2013 NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional Championships on Wednesday (May 8) by coming away with a 10th-place team finish in Kenosha, Wis.

The Bulldogs posted a 303 score over the final 18 holes of action at The Club at Strawberry Creek to finish with an 890 total in the 54-hole event spanning three days of competition.  FSU totaled a 295 score in Monday's opening round before posting a 292 mark on Tuesday.

Central Missouri held onto its advantage and emerged as the super regional champion with an 859 team total.  They were followed by Central Oklahoma in second place (864), Missouri-St. Louis in third (866) with Bellarmine fourth (874) and Southwestern Oklahoma State fifth (875) in the team race among the 20 competing teams in the tournament on the par 72 course.

Individually, Ferris State was paced by Chris Eaton, who came away with a share of 24th place overall at 221 for the 54 holes. He posted a team-best 74 in the final round.

FSU's Andrew Jared shared 31st place at 222 following a final-round mark of 75 on Wednesday while Trent Davison captured a tie for 55th place at 226 on a final showing of 78 over the last 18 holes of action.

The Bulldogs' Ben Cook placed tied for 62nd after registering an 82 in the final round to finish 227 for the tournament.  Finally, Luke Trocchio tied for 90th overall at 232 following a 76 on the final day.

The individual championship went to Central Missouri's Robby Hughey with a 203 score as all three of his rounds came in at least three strokes under par.

The Central/Midwest Regional was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and consisted of 10 teams from the Midwest Region along with 10 from the Central Region.  Four individuals from each region also competed in the 54-hole tournament.

The top five teams and the top two individuals not affiliated with a team from each regional (regardless of region) advanced to the 2013 NCAA-II Men's Golf Championships slated for May 20-24 at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.

The Bulldogs, under sixth-year head coach Mike Mignano, made their 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in men's golf.
