Men's Golf Places Fourth Of 33 Schools In Midwest Fall Regional Tournament

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team came away with a fourth-place overall finish in its second tournament of the fall on Monday (Sept. 30) as the Bulldogs wrapped up action in the Division II Midwest Fall Regional event held in Calumet City, Ill.

The Bulldogs shot a 593 for the tournament to placed fourth among 33 competing teams in the large field.  FSU entered day two in second place after carding a 293 score in Sunday's opening round before finishing up with a 300 team score over the final 18 holes of action in the 36-hole event on the par 72 course.

Senior Trent Davison and junior Sam Stark both placed tied for 17th overall in the field individually as each shot a 147 total for the tournament.  Both of them posted an even-par 72 score on Sunday before coming back with identical 75's on the final day.

They were followed by sophomore Ben Cook, who was tied for 23rd overall at 148 with back-to-back rounds of 74 at two-over par each day.

Senior Chris Eaton came in tied for 74th along with senior teammate Andrew Jared with both posting 154 totals.  Eaton fired a 76 in the final round after a first-round score of 78 while Jared posted a 75 on day one followed by a final round 79 score.

Grand Valley State won the team title with a 585 figure with Malone taking second place (587) and Indianapolis third (592) in front of the Bulldogs.  Missouri-St. Louis shot a 595 to finish fifth.

GVSU's Chris Cunningham was the individual champion with a 142 figure as he shot even-par in round one and was two-under (70) over the final 18 holes.

The Bulldogs are next in action at the 2013 GLIAC Championships slated for Oct. 5-7 in Bath, Mich.
