Ferris State Men's Golf Wins Annual Bulldog Invitational At Katke Golf Course

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team used the home course to its advantage as FSU shot a 315 team figure to win the Bulldog Invitational on Saturday (April 26) at FSU's Katke Golf Course.

The Bulldogs, who received the program's 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament bid on Friday evening, won their lone home tournament of the year on the par 72 course. FSU finished five strokes in front of runner-up Muskegon Community College (320) with Northern Michigan taking third (328) and the Ferris State "Gold" team finishing fourth (338) in the four-team event.

Individually, Bulldog senior Trent Davison emerged as the individual champion as he shot a 76 to win the 18-hole tournament by one stroke over Muskegon's Tyler Covell (77) and two strokes over three other competitiors.

Two of his teammates, Chris Eaton and Sam Stark, who both fired rounds of 78 on Saturday, were among three to finish tied for third overall.

The victorious FSU "Crimson" team also included Tyler Siech and Zak Kiefer, who posted rounds of 83 and 84, respectively.

In addition to the five on the winning team, four other Bulldog competitors participated in the event for the FSU "Gold" squad. Luke Trocchio also tied for third overall with a 78 to lead the squad with Cody Simons only a stroke behind with a 79 on the day.

Finally, Andrew Jared shot an 84 with Carter Hendricks recording a 97 for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will take part in the 2014 Midwest/Central Super Regional, which will take place May 5-7 at the Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
