Ferris State Men's Golf Wraps Up Day Two Action At NCAA Super Regional Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team continued action in the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional Championships on Tuesday (May 6) in Eureka, Mo.

After opening play only five strokes out of the lead with a 296 score in Monday's (May 5) initial round at Fox Run Golf Club near St. Louis, the Bulldogs dropped back to a share of 13th place overall heading into the final round on Wednesday (May 6) as FSU carded a 314 figure in round two. 

The Bulldogs are at 610 overall following two rounds in the 54-hole event, but only 13 strokes out of fourth place, which is currently shared by host Missouri-St. Louis and Tiffin. The top four teams at the close of Wednesday's round will advance to the NCAA-II National Championships to be held in two weeks in Allendale, Mich.

Malone University continues to lead the pack with a two-round, 590 total followed by Central Missouri (591) and Lindenwood (592) in the top three overall. A total of 20 teams, including 10 from the Midwest Region and 10 from the Central Region, are taking part in the three-day competition.

Senior Trent Davison is presently tied for 32nd overall with a 151 total after two rounds in leading the Bulldogs. After shooting a 74 in round one, he came back to post a 77 on Tuesday.

FSU's Ben Cook is only a stroke back at 152 overall and tied for 40th in the field. He shot an 81 on Tuesday following an impressive one-under par 71 over the first 18 holes of action.

A total of only three strokes seperate the Bulldogs' top four golfers as Chris Eaton holds a 153 total and Sam Stark is at 154 overall following two rounds. Eaton improved by three strokes on Tuesday as he shot a 75 after a first-round 78 score to come in tied for 49th while Stark followed up his one-over 73 score on Monday with an 81 Tuesday and is currently tied for 57th overall.

Finally, FSU's Tyler Siech is presently 105th in the draw at 168 for the tournament on rounds of 81 Monday and 87 Tuesday, respectively.

The Midwest/Central Men's Golf Super Regional consists of 10 teams from the Midwest Region along with 10 from the Central Region.  Four individuals from each region are also competing in the event. The top four teams and the top two individuals not affiliated with a team from the regional (regardless of region) at the end of Wednesday's final round will advance to the 2014 NCAA-II Men's Golf Championships slated for May 19-23 at the Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich.

Final round tee times are set for Wednesday starting at 8:30 a.m. (ET).
