Bulldog Men's Golf Shares 7th Place At GLIAC Fall Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team came away with a share of seventh place in the 2015 GLIAC Fall Invitational, which took place on Sunday and Monday (Sept. 20-21) at HawksHead Links in South Haven, Mich.

The Bulldogs shot an opening-round 295 team score on Sunday and were in second place heading into day two before carding a 304 team score to finish at 599 overall. A total of only 18 strokes separated the top nine teams in the field with the fourth thru ninth place teams all within six strokes of one another.

Ferris State was led by Cody Simons, who placed tied for 14th overall with a two-round total of 146 in the tournament. He carded a 73 in both rounds to finish at two-over par on the links style course.

FSU's Jack Weller shared 17th place with a 147 figure on rounds of 70 and 77 Sunday and Monday, respectively. 

Behind Weller was Andrew Hammett, who totaled a 153 score for a share of 39th place. He shot a 76 in round one followed by a 77 in the second round.

Sophomore Seth Terpstra fired a 155 score and shared 47th place overall with rounds of 76 and 79 while Ryan Bayer came in tied for 51st in the field at 156 after shooting 79 and 77 scores.

The Bulldogs also had a pair of golfers compete as individuals with Zak Kiefer tying for 23rd place at 150 on rounds of 75 each day along with freshman Brad Walling in a share of 76th place via a 165 total. He shot an 81 on Sunday and an 84 on Sunday in the event.

A total of 14 teams and nearly 80 golfers competed in the two-day tournament.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Sept. 28-29 at the NCAA Midwest Regional #1 Tournament slated to be held in Chicago, Ill.
