Ferris State Men's Golf Wins Second-Straight Fall Regional Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team came away with its second first-place regional finish of the fall campaign as the Bulldogs won the 2015 Midwest Regional Fall Tournament #2 event hosted at Fox Run on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 12-13) in Eureka, Mo.

The Bulldogs placed first in the 24-team field with a two-round score of 606 to finish three strokes in front of runner-up Lewis (609). 

Ferris State shot an impressive first-round 297 score on Monday followed by a 309 team score in Tuesday's final round on the par 72 course.

FSU's Jack Weller earned runner-up honors individually with a 143 total on rounds of 68 Monday and 75 on Tuesday. He finished a single stroke behind individual champion Kennai Sampson of McKendree (Ill.), who shot a 142 score.

The Bulldogs' Zack Bialik came in tied for ninth at 151 overall on rounds of 72 and 79 with Andrew Hammett tied for 26th at 155. He carded scores of 78 and 77 for the two days, respectively.

Ferris State's Seth Terpstra tied for 41st overall with a 157 score as he shot rounds of 79 and 78 in the competition.

Ferris State's Ryan Bayer also competed and tied for 70th overall with a 162 score. He posted a first-round 83 before shooting a 79 in round two. 

The championship effort was the Bulldogs' second-straight of the fall season in regional competition as FSU previously won the Midwest Region #1 Tourney on Sept. 28-29 in Chicago, Ill.

The Bulldogs are slated to wrap up the fall season on Oct. 18-19 at the Wayne State Motor City Invitational to be held in Detroit, Mich
