Men's Golf Wraps Up Impressive Fall With Third-Place Finish at Motor City Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team wrapped up its fall 2015 season with a third-place team finish on Monday (Oct. 19) at the Motor City Invitational hosted by Wayne State University at the TPC of Michigan course.

The Bulldogs shot a final-round 320 team score in Monday's competition on the heels of a 318 first day figure on Sunday to finish at 638 or +62 for the 36 holes of action.

Host Wayne State carded a 623 score to edge out runner-up Grand Valley State (624) in the team chase with the Bulldogs third and both Madonna and Ohio Northern tied for fourth (650).

Ferris State was led by Zach Bialik, who came in third for third individually with a 155 total on rounds of 79 and 76 overall. He finished +11 for the tournament and was 10 strokes off the pace set by individual champion Crawford McKinlay of WSU, who fired a 145 figure.

The Bulldogs' Jack Weller placed seventh in the field with a 158 score as FSU had a pair of top 10 performances. He shot an 81 on Sunday followed by a 77 in Monday's action.

FSU's Ryan Bayer finished tied for 12th overall at 161 on rounds of 80 and 81 each day, respectively, while Seth Terpstra placed tied for 18th with a 164 total. He shot a first-round 78 and concluded the tournament with a 76 in the final 18 holes of competition.

Ferris State's Andrew Hammett wound up 26th for the tournament with a 168 score on rounds of 82 Sunday and 86 on Monday.

Finally, Cody Simons competed as an individual and placed tied for 20th at 165 overall. He shot a first-round 80 and then came back with an 85 in the final round.

The par 72 course measured a total of 6,795 yards.

Ferris State had an impressive fall campaign as the Bulldogs won both fall regional tournaments and garnered a third-place finish at the Motor City Invite along with a fourth-place finish in the Northern Michigan Invitational for a total of four top-five team efforts.

FSU will return to action next spring with both the GLIAC and NCAA Championships taking place at the end of the season.
