Ferris State Men's Golf Two Shots Off Lead After Two Rounds At GLIAC Championships
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team is two shots off the lead following two rounds of action at the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships as the Bulldogs carded a 300 team score in round two play on Saturday (April 22) at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
FSU, which held the day one lead after shooting a 295 on Saturday, is presently at 595 for the tournament and trails only day two leader Grand Valley State after 36 holes in the 54-hole event. The Lakers hold a 593 figure after firing a 294 score in Saturday's competition.
Presently, two Bulldog golfers are midst a three-way tie for the individual lead as both senior Ben Cook and FSU's Seth Terpstra are tied for first with GVSU's Domenic Mancinelli. All three have totaled 147 following two rounds of action.
Cook shot a 77 on Saturday after his first-round 70 score while Terpstra climbed the leaderboard with an even-par 72 in the second round. He had shot a 75 in round one. After two rounds, the Bulldogs' Jack Weller is also in the mix as he's tied for fourth individually with a 148 score on identical rounds of 74 each day.
FSU's Andrew Hammett is also found in the top 20 overall as he's tied for 19th place overall with a 153 score. He shot a 77 in round two after recording a first-round 76 score.
Finally, Ryan Bayer is 46th in the field at 160 thru two rounds. His bettered his first-round score by six strokes as he shot a 77 Saturday following an 83 in Friday's action.
The 2017 GLIAC Championships consist of 54 holes as the teams will play one round per day thru Sunday. The low four of five scores will count towards the respective team score for each squad.
