Big Rapids, Mich. - A pair of Ferris State University golfers, junior men's student-athlete Andrew Hammett (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman women's golfer Baylee Thompson (Lapeer), have earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2017-18 campaign as announced by the league office today.

Hammett was one of six individuals named to the All-GLIAC Men's Golf First Team while Thompson was an honorable mention all-conference selection in voting by the league's member head coaches.

This year, Hammett won two tournaments as the individual medalist, including last week's GLIAC Championships held at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. In the event, he led the Bulldogs with a 217 figure for the 54 holes and fired a three-under 69 in the final round before winning a two-hole playoff for the title.

During the 2017-18 campaign, Hammett recorded five top-15 finishes in tournament action while also winning the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational held in Ohio. He placed among the top 12 performers in three fall tournaments for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Thompson had a standout rookie season for the Bulldogs with seven top-20 performances in 11 tournaments this academic year. Her finishes were highlighted by a runner-up performance at the Saginaw Valley State Fall Invitational held in Bay City.

This season, Thompson placed among the top 10 golfers a total of four times. Last week, she led the Bulldogs by placing 21st overall in the GLIAC Championships in Nashport with a three-round, 241 figure.

Both Ferris State teams are guided by FSU alum and second-year head coach Kyle Wittenbach.
