Big Rapids, Mich. - Junior golfer Andrew Hammett (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Academy) has received an invitation to compete in the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.

Hammett, who was the individual medalist in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships last week, earned a tournament invite and will compete in the men's golf Super Regionals set for May 7-9 at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

A total of 10 schools from the Midwest Region and 10 from the Central Region received invitations along with four individuals from each region not affiliated with one of the qualifying teams.

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the national finals May 21-25, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

The remaining eight team berths for the national championships will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The national finals will be hosted by the University of North Alabama.

This year, Hammett won two tournaments as the individual medalist, including last week's GLIAC Championships held at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. In the event, he led the Bulldogs with a 217 figure for the 54 holes and fired a three-under 69 in the final round before winning a two-hole playoff for the title.

During the 2017-18 campaign, Hammett recorded five top-15 finishes in tournament action while also winning the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational held in Ohio. He placed among the top 12 performers in three fall tournaments for the Bulldogs and was an All-GLIAC First Team honoree.

A year ago, Hammett helped the Bulldogs to a runner-up team finish in the super regional championships before going on reach the national quarterfinals under head coach Kyle Wittenbach.

With Hammett's selection to the NCAA Championships, it will mark the 16th-straight year in which the Bulldogs have had representation in the NCAA Tournament. Ferris State's current 15-year NCAA Championship appearance streak in men's golf ranks as one of the longest active stretches in the country.
