Ferris State Golf's Andrew Hammett Finishes Tied For 13th At NCAA Super Regional Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University junior golfer Andrew Hammett wrapped up action in the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Midwest Regional Championships by placing tied for 13th overall on Wednesday (May 9) in Findlay, Ohio.

Hammett finished at one-over par 217 for the three rounds of action on the par 72 course measuring 6,722 total yards at the Findlay Country Club. He shot a final-round 73 score on Wednesday after posting an identical score in round one Monday along with a one-under par 71 on Tuesday in round two.

A total of 10 schools from the Midwest Region and 10 from the Central Region participated in the field along with four individuals from each region not affiliated with one of the qualifying teams.

This year, Hammett won two tournaments as the individual medalist, including last week's GLIAC Championships held at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. In the event, he led the Bulldogs with a 217 figure for the 54 holes and fired a three-under 69 in the final round before winning a two-hole playoff for the title.

During the 2017-18 campaign, Hammett recorded five top-15 finishes in tournament action while also winning the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational held in Ohio. He placed among the top 12 performers in three fall tournaments for the Bulldogs and was an All-GLIAC First Team honoree.

A year ago, Hammett helped the Bulldogs to a runner-up team finish in the super regional championships before going on reach the national quarterfinals under head coach Kyle Wittenbach.

With Hammett's selection to the NCAA Championships, it marks the 16th-straight year in which the Bulldogs have had representation in the NCAA Tournament. Ferris State's current 16-year NCAA Championship appearance streak in men's golf ranks as one of the longest active stretches in the country.
