Ferris State's Andrew Hammett Named GLIAC Men's Golfer Of The Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - After an impressive performance, Ferris State University senior men's golfer Andrew Hammett has been tabbed as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Athlete of the Week.

Hammett captured the 2018 Titans Motown Collegiate Championship, which took place at Prestwick Village Golf Club in Highland, Mich.

The senior standout led the Bulldogs to a third-place team finish by wrapping up action in the three-round event on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 15-16) atop the leaderboard. He shot six-under for the tournament at 210 overall with a round of 72 followed by a 66 and another 72 score for a two-shot victory.

Hammett became the third different FSU senior golfer to capture individual medalist honors this year in a tournament with the win on the par 72 course measuring 7,042 yards.

The event wrapped up the fall campaign for the Bulldogs, who will return to action with the first spring competition slated for March 7-8 in St. Cloud, Fla.
