Ferris State Men's Golf Comes Up Fourth In Parkside Spring Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf squad came away with a fourth-place finish at the Parkside Spring Invitational, which wrapped up on Monday (April 1) at the Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Ind.

The Bulldogs shot a two-day total of 595 with rounds of 306 on Sunday and 289 on Monday in a highly-competitive field. A total of only eight strokes seperated the top four teams in the field and FSU climbed three spots on the leaderboard with the tourney's second-best round over the final 18 holes of action.

Senior Seth Terpstra paced the Bulldogs as he came in third overall with a 145 figure to finish +1 for the 36 holes. He shot a 77 in day one action before firing a four-under 68 in Monday's round. Terpstra finished only two shots out of first place.

The Bulldogs' Thomas Hursey carded a 148 total for a share of seventh place in the field. After shooting an even-par 72 in round one, he came back with a 76 in the final round for a +4 finish.

FSU's Jason Martinus placed tied for 29th in the field at 152 for the tournament on rounds of 78 Sunday and 74 on Monday while seniors Andrew Hammett and Jack Weller both tied for 34th overall with 153 totals. Hammett shot 79-74 for the two rounds with Weller posting scores of 82 before a one-under 71 on Monday.

The Bulldogs' Andrew Proctor wound up tied for 43rd in a strong field with a 154 figure as he posted a 78 in the opening round followed by a 76 over the final 18 holes.

Ferris State will next take part in the University of Indianapolis Invitational on April 7-8 in Nobelsville, Ind.
