Men's Golf Takes Runner-Up Honors At 2019 GLIAC North Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team placed second overall this weekend as action wrapped up on Sunday (Sept. 15) in the 2019 GLIAC North Invitational hosted by the Bulldogs at FSU's Katke Golf Course.

Ferris State went into the final round on Sunday tied with Grand Valley State for first place and the Bulldogs shot a 288 figure, but came up three strokes behind the Lakers for top team honors in the event.

Overall, FSU finished at 581 for the two days of action after notching a first-round 293 score in Saturday's competition. GVSU placed first at 578 on rounds of 293 and 285 with Saginaw Valley State third overall (590).

The Bulldogs were led by Daniel Shattuck and Nathan Kraynyk, who both tied for fourth in the field with 144 totals for the 36 holes. Shattuck shot 73-71 for the two rounds while Kraynyk posted an impressive 67 on Sunday after opening with a 77 score.

The Bulldogs' Thomas Hursey finished eighth with a 146 score on rounds of 70 and 76 for the two days with Tanner Moore right behind in ninth place with a 147 on scores of 73 and 74 in the tournament.

Finally, Trent Barth wound up tied for 28th as he shot a 90 before finishing up with a 79 for a 169 figure.

The Bulldogs' Zach Gildner also competed as an individual and placed tied for 12th at 150 on rounds of 75 each day.

Ferris State will be back in action on Sept. 23-24 at the Findlay Fall Invitational in Findlay, Ohio.
