Men's Golf Earns Runner-Up Honors At Hawkshead Links Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team claimed runner-up honors in the 2019 Hawkshead Links Invitational this weekend in South Haven.

The Bulldogs shot a 283 team score in Saturday's opening round of the event hosted by Wayne State University at the Hawkshead Links course and the results stood as rain and wet weather forced the cancellation of Sunday's final round.

Ferris State's 283 team score was five-under par for the round and trailed only host WSU's impressive 274 score in the seven-team event featuring Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) schools.

FSU's Nathan Kraynyk shot a three-under 69 and placed tied for fourth overall.

The Bulldogs' Daniel Shattuck came in tied for seventh with a one-under 71 as did FSU's Tanner Moore, who carded the same figure.

Sophomore Thomas Hursey shot an even-par 72 and placed tied for 10th in the field with Zach Gildner coming in tied for 38th with a 81.

The Bulldogs' Trent Barth competed as an individual and tied for 16th place with a 75.

Ferris State will be back in action on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 6-7, at the Northwood Invitational in Midland.
