Two Bulldogs Earn All-Tourney Honors As Ferris State Finishes Fourth At Northwood Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team closed out action in the Northwood Invitational with a fourth-place finish on Monday (Oct. 7) in Midland.

The Bulldogs shot a three-round 894 team score in the 10-team event, which was won by Wayne State with a 865 figure. FSU carded a 313 in round one before coming back strong with rounds of 292 in Sunday's second round and a 289 mark over Monday's final 18 holes of action.

FSU's Thomas Hursey and Nathan Kraynyk both earned all-tourney honors as they tied for sixth place overall with scores of 218 for the tournament. Hursey shot a 77 in round one followed by a two-under 70 in the middle round and a one-under 71 for the final round. Meanwhile, Kraynyk carded an 80 and a 72 in opening day action before closing with an impressive 66 on Monday.

The Bulldogs' Tanner Moore placed tied for 21st in the field at 226 on rounds of 74 and 77 on day one followed by a 75 in the final round.

FSU's Daniel Shattuck finished tied for 41st in the field at 235 as he shot an 82 in the first round before notching a 73 in round two and an 80 in the final round.

Finally, Trent Barth placed tied for 46th overall with a 238 figure. After a first-round 82, he carded a 79 in the middle round and finished with his best round with a 77 on Monday.

The Bulldogs' Zach Gildner also competed as an individual and wound up tied for 35th with a 233 total. He shot an even-par 72 in the opening round followed by a 82 in round two and a 79 in round three.

Ferris State is slated to close out the fall season by taking part in the Whistling Straits Championship set for Oct. 21-22 in Kohler, Wis.
