Ferris State Men's Golf Leads Cav Classic After First Two Rounds Of Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team had a strong start and presently holds the day one lead in first place following the opening two rounds of the Cav Classic on Monday (April 5) in Canton, Ohio.

The Bulldogs shot a first-round 282 score followed by a 287 mark in round two and are currently at -7 overall with a 569 figure entering the final round in the 11-team field. The event is being held at the Glenmoor Country Club and hosted by Walsh University.

FSU currently holds a five-shot lead over second place Saginaw Valley State (-2) with host Walsh in third place (+2) after two rounds on the course measuring 6,854 yards.

In addition to holding the team lead, two Bulldog competitors, Thomas Hursey and Josh Jeffords, are both currently midst a four-way tie for first place individually with scores of 141 (-3) thru two rounds. Hursey shot a 71 in the first round and a 70 in round two while Jeffords posted a first-round 69 followed by an even-par 72 figure.

FSU's Nathan Kraynyk is presently tied for eighth in the field at 144 on rounds of 74 and 70 on Monday. Meanwhile, Adam Madzri shot a 147 in the first two rounds on scores of 72 and 75 and is currently 20th overall.

Finally, the Bulldogs' Zach Gildner is tied for 24th in the field with a 149 score. He shot a 70 in round one followed by a 79 in round two.

The final round is set to begin on Tuesday at 9 a.m. (ET).
