Men's Golf Improves Score By 15 Strokes In Final Round Of Al Watrous Intercollegiate Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team wrapped up action in the 2021 Al Watrous Intercollegiate Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 12) at the Saginaw Valley Public Golf Course in Bay City.

The Bulldogs carded a 599 team total for the two days of action and finished 11th overall in the event hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.

In the team race, Findlay emerged as the team champion with a 563 figure followed by host SVSU in second place (572). FSU was only 20 total strokes out of fourth place in an extremely competitive field.

Ferris State shot an impressive 292 team figure in Sunday's final round after initially carding a 307 in Saturday's first day of action in the 36-hole event.

The Bulldogs were led by Cannon Risner, who placed tied for 30th overall with a 147 total on rounds of 74 and 73 over the two days, respectively.

Meanwhile, FSU's Andrew Proctor placed tied for 39th individually as he shot back-to-back rounds of 74 for a 148 total.

Next in line was Mitchell Geik for Ferris State in a share of 46th place with a 149 score. Geik carded a first-round 78 and then fired a 71 in the final round.

The Bulldogs' Zach Koerner finished tied for 68th, shooting a 156 total with a day one 82 followed by a 74 over the final 18 holes of competition.

Finally, Trent Barth shot a 157 figure and placed tied for 73rd on rounds of 81 Saturday and 76 on Sunday.

The Bulldogs will next be in action on Sept. 20-21 at The Doc Spragg Fall Invite hosted by the University of Findlay in Ohio.
