Men's Golf Closes Fall Season With Fourth-Place Finish At Panther Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team concluded its fall season with a fourth-place overall finish at the Panther Invitational hosted by Davenport University on Sunday (Oct. 17) in Augusta, Mich.

The action took place at Stoatin Brae Golf Club and the Bulldogs shot a 596 figure for the 36 holes of action over the weekend. The course was a par 71 layout measuring 6,742 yards on day one and 6,666 yards for Sunday's final round of action.

Overall, Ohio Dominican emerged as the team champion at 580 for the tourney while Saginaw Valley State was second (583) and Davenport third (592) just in front of the Bulldogs. After an impressive round of 289 on Saturday, FSU finished the event with a 307 team score on Sunday.

FSU was led by Joshua Jeffords as he finished tied for fourth individually with a 144 figure. He shot a one-under par 70 in round one and closed with a 74 over the final 18 holes of action.

The Bulldogs' Nathan Kraynyk also placed among the top 10 individuals, taking a share of eighth place at 147 for the two rounds. Kraynyk opened with a 76 and shot an even par 71 on Sunday.

Ferris State's Cannon Risner wound up tied for 20th in the field, shooting a 152 total on rounds of 70 Saturday and 82 on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Zach Koerner was only a shot back at 153 for the tournament, placing tied for 24th in the field. He notched a 73 in the opening round and closed with an 80 on Sunday.

Finally, Mitchell Geik took 52nd place with a 167 mark, notching a 82 in the last round, which came on the heels of an 85 in round one.

The event marked the Bulldogs' final action of the fall campaign.
