Ferris State Men's Golf Falls In GLIAC Semifinals To Wrap Up League Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team put up a strong performance, but fell short in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Semifinals on Saturday in Augusta, Mich.

The Bulldogs dropped a 3-1-1 decision to second-seeded Wayne State in the league's medal match play semifinals at the Stoatin Brae Gofl Club.

FSU, which was making its fourth consecutive appearance in the semifinal round, had finished tied for third place overall in the 36-hole stroke play portion of the championships held on Friday to reach the semifinals.

Ferris State's Zach Koerner posted a three-stroke win for the Bulldogs in the semifinals in his head-to-head match for 18 holes while freshman Caleb Bond finished in a tie for FSU. The Bulldogs' Drayton Cleaver wound up one back in his tilt against the Warriors while both Adam Arif Madzri and Daniel Shattuck narrowly fell by only two strokes each.

Previously, the Bulldogs won back-to-back medal match play league titles in 2019 and 2021 (no tournament was held in 2020) before earning runner-up honors a year ago.

Ferris State was ranked 10th in the most recent NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and will now await the official NCAA Division II Tournament selection announcement.
