Ferris State Makes Strong Push On Final Day As Play Concludes At NCAA Super Region Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team made a strong push as play concluded on Saturday (May 13) in the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional held at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minn.

Ferris State finished the 54-hole tournament with a ninth place team finish overall, shooting 884 or +32 for the three days of action. After shooting a 293 team figure in round one and a 299 total in round two, FSU posted its best overall score of the event with a 292 mark in Saturday's final round of play.

Overall, the Bulldogs finished only three strokes out of a share of fifth place overall. The top six teams from the event advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships and only three strokes separated the fifth thru ninth-place teams.

All five Ferris State golfers posted scores of 74 or better in the final round. Overall, Daniel Shattuck paced the Bulldogs as he placed tied for 20th individually with a 219 figure after posting a two-over par 73 in the final round.

FSU's Caleb Bond and Zach Koerner both wound up tied for 37th in the field at 223 for the tournament. Bond shot a three-over 74 on Saturday with Koerner notching a two-over 73 in the final 18 holes of play.

Meanwhile, Adam Arif Madzri shot a one-over par 72 in the final round on the par 71 layout and came in tied for 50th individually at 224 for the tournament.

Finally, Trent Barth also shot a 74 in the final round and placed tied for 61st with a 226 total for the three days of action.

The Midwest/Central Regional was hosted by Winona State University and consisted of 10 teams from the Midwest Region along with 10 from the Central Region. Four individuals from each region also competed in the 54-hole tournament.

This year makes this the 18th time in the past 20 years in which the Bulldogs have had representation in the NCAA Tournament when it has been held. The stretch of NCAA Championship representation in men's golf ranks as one of the best stretches in the country.
