Ferris State Men's Golf Captures B&R Investments Bulldog Fall Classic Championship!

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf squad captured the team championship at its own B&R Investments Bulldog Fall Classic as play wrapped up on Tuesday (Sept. 19) at FSU's Katke Golf Course.

The Bulldogs carded a four-under par 280 score in the final round to post a 16-stroke win over runner-up Wayne State. Ferris State finished +14 for the 54 holes of action, shooting an 866 total, while WSU carded an 882 score (+30) over the three rounds.

FSU's 280 figure in the final round was the lowest single-round total of any of the 16 competing schools over the two-day event. The Bulldogs shot identical 293 totals in each of Monday's first two rounds on the par 71 course.

Individually, the Bulldogs placed three competitors on the all-tournament team, finishing with three of the top four individuals. Shea Harmeson of Saginaw Valley State was the individual medalist with a three-under 210 figure.

Ferris State freshman McCoy Biagioli came in second overall with a two-over 215 figure, notching a one-under 70 in the final round after shooting scores of 72 and 73 on day one.

Meanwhile, both Caleb Bond and Adam Arif Madzri tied for third overall for the Bulldogs with three-over par 216 scores. Bond had a three-under 68 in Tuesday's final round following his day one totals of 73 and 75 while Madzri notched a one-over 72 in the final 18 holes of action. He had carded a 75 in round one before coming back with a two-under 69 in the second round.

FSU's Nathan Kraynyk shot a 221 for the three rounds at eight-over par to finish tied for 12th on the leaderboard. Kraynyk fired a 73 in round one and a 78 in the second round followed by a one-under 70 on Tuesday.

Finally, Zach Koerner tied for 41st in the field with a 227 (+14) score, notching a 74 in the final round. He posted scores of 77 and 76 in rounds one and two, respectively.

The Bulldogs also had several golfers compete as individuals with Kole Putnam tying for 30th overall. Putnam notched a 225 score (+12) for the three rounds, shooting 73 in the last round after back-to-back 76 scores in Monday's competition.

FSU's Shayne Beaufait placed tied for 45th with a 228 (+15) mark. He shot an 80 in round one before finishing with identical 74 scores in each of the final two rounds.

The Bulldogs' Trent Barth placed tied for 50th at 231 (+18) overall following his final-round 74 figure. It came on the heels of an 80 in the opening round and a 77 in the middle round of the event.

Finally, Drayton Cleaver also tied for 50th with a 231 (+18) score for the three rounds of competition. Cleaver shot a 78 in round one, a 76 in round two and a 77 in round three.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Sept. 25-26 at the University of Indianapolis Fall Invite.
