Bob Daniels, the all-time winningest coach in
Ferris State University men's ice hockey history, reached another
milestone in his collegiate coaching career by registering his
300th career victory in the Bulldogs' 4-1 Central Collegiate Hockey
Association (CCHA) triumph over Bowling Green State this
Friday (Jan. 7) evening at the BGSU Ice Arena in Bowling Green,
Ohio.
Daniels has presently compiled a 300-342-73 (.471) mark in 19 seasons as Ferris State's head coach. Daniels, who took over the head coaching reigns prior to the 1992-93 campaign, has lead the Bulldogs to six winning seasons highlighted by a school-record 31-10-1 mark in the 2002-03 season. Ferris State would not only capture its first CCHA regular-season championship title, but also make its first NCAA Division I Tournament appearance. For his efforts, Daniels was selected the recipient of the 2002-03 Spencer Penrose Award as American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Division I Coach of the Year and also the CCHA's Coach of the Year.
A 2007-08 and 2009-10 CCHA Coach of the Year Award finalist, Daniels earned his 100th coaching win on March 6, 1999 with a 2-1 victory at Michigan State in the regular-season finale and picked up his 200th coaching win on Dec. 4, 2004 following a 6-2 home triumph over Western Michigan.
Prior to this 2010-11 season, Daniels was listed tied for 16th in victories among active NCAA Division I coaches and ranked 48th place all-time in victories.
