Bonis, Billins On Frozen Four All-Tourney Team

Big Rapids, Mich.- Two Ferris State University men's ice hockey players were named to the 2012 NCAA Frozen Four All-Tournament Team.

The all-tourney team was announced at the conclusion of the National Championship game on Saturday (April 7) night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum and included Bulldog junior skater Kyle Bonis (Lindsay, Ontario) along with senior defenseman Chad Billins (Marysville).

Bonis tallied the game-winning goal in the national semifinal game against Union on Thursday (April 5). He also had an assist on the first goal of the game as the Bulldogs won 3-1 to advance to the title contest. Bonis was named one of three all-tournament forwards.

Meanwhile, Billins totaled seven blocked shots in the Frozen Four, including five in the 3-1 victory over Union. He was recognized as an all-tournament defenseman.

The Bulldogs ousted Union 3-1 in the semifinals on Thursday before falling 4-1 to Boston College in a thrilling contest on Saturday night as Ferris State competed in its first-ever national championship game.

FSU finished its memorable 2011-12 season with a program second-best 26-12-5 overall record.  Ferris State also won its second-ever Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Regular-Season Championship and advanced to the Frozen Four for the first time by winning the Midwest Regional title.
