Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University Athletics Department and the Bulldog men's ice hockey program will honor military veterans in a special event as FSU holds a Veteran's Appreciation Game on Thursday, Nov. 13, presented by General Mills-Yoplait.

Ferris State will don special Bulldog camouflage jerseys for the Nov. 13 Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) home contest versus Alaska-Anchorage at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the Veterans and Homefront Heroes Memorial Park, a Big Rapids city park that will recognize modern day war heroes.

The game, which begins at 7:07 p.m. (ET), is being made possible thru the generous support of General Mills-Yoplait, which will be the exclusive sponsor for the contest.

"This will be a tremendous opportunity for us to help raise funds to honor these wonderful veterans for their service to our country," said FSU head coach Bob Daniels.  "We're happy to play a role in an event like this that gives back to a community that has been so supportive of Bulldog Hockey over the years."

As part of the Veteran's Appreciation Game, Bulldog fans can help aid the effort.  In a silent auction format, fans can bid on one of the special camoflauge jerseys for a minimum bid of $140 and those that pre-buy will be able to put any name, branch or other designation on the back of the jersey. All requests must be made by Friday, Sept. 26.

To make a bid, please contact Madison Szczesniak via email at szczesm@ferris.edu.

"We appreciate the chance to give back to the community in an event like this that supports such a worthwhile cause," said FSU Associate Athletics Director Jon Coles.  "We thank General Mills-Yoplait for helping make this evening possible and we're excited to be able to recognize these outstanding military veterans."

The event comes on the heels of last year's "Pink In The Rink" game, also sponsored by General Mills – Yoplait, benefiting breast cancer research in which FSU wore special pink jerseys. Proceeds from the Veteran's Appreciation Game such as ticket and jersey sales, auction items and more will be donated to the park.

General Mills, which operates Yoplait in Reed City, has been a key sponsor of Ferris State Athletics' community engagement efforts over the last six years.

"This is another great opportunity for General Mills-Yoplait in Reed City to partner with Ferris State Athletics to support these military heroes," said General Mills-Yoplait Plant Manager Jon Woodworth.  "We're thankful for their service to our country and we're thrilled to be part of recognizing their service and contributions to our community."

Single-game tickets for the 2014-15 season will go on sale Sept. 22 . Tickets can be purchased at the FSU Athletics Ticket Office located inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex along with online at StarTickets.com.  The ticket office is open Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. (ET) to 5 p.m. (ET).
