Saturday's Bulldog Hockey Golf Outing Officially SOLD OUT For Fourth-Straight Year!

Big Rapids, Mich. - For the fourth consecutive year, the Ferris State University men's ice hockey program has announced its annual Bulldog Hockey Classic-Alumni Golf Outing slated for Saturday (Aug. 1) is officially sold out.

Saturday's outing, which serves as a fundraiser for the Bulldog Hockey program, will feature a total of nearly 40 teams and more than 160 golfers for the 29th annual event on Katke Golf Course's 21-hole championship course at FSU. The sellout comes on the heels of record-breaking years for the event each of the last three summers.

"This outing has become such a popular and enjoyable event for our faithful alumni, outstanding supporters of the program and friends," said FSU head coach Bob Daniels.  "We certainly thank everyone for their continued support and we are looking forward to welcoming back our former players along with having an opportunity to spend the day with so many great people."

A number of notable alumns and former Bulldog Hockey players are expected to take part in this year's event such as new Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill, defenseman Zach Redmond of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Colorado Avalanche, recent standout captain and goaltender CJ Motte and several members from many of FSU's outstanding teams of the past, including the 2012 Frozen Four squad and 2013-14 WCHA Championship team.

Along with the golf outing, Saturday's events will include a morning reception for former players and coaches along with lunch at the course prior to the 18 holes of golf. A dinner and awards ceremony will follow at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center. 

The weekend activities will also include the annual Little Kevin Softball Game at Hemlock Park in Big Rapids starting at 7 p.m. (ET) on Friday (July 31) night, which pits local heroes from the police and firefighters force against Bulldog Hockey alumni. 

A postgame reception will take place for players, family and friends on Friday night at Shooters sponsored by the FSU Blueline Club. The Bulldog Hockey Classic-Alumni Golf Outing regularly draws former and notable Bulldog Hockey players for both the softball and golf events.

Ferris State will return all but five seniors from this past season for the 2015-16 campaign, including eight of the squad's top nine scorers. Over the past four seasons, the Bulldogs have captured two conference championships, made two NCAA Tournament appearances and appeared in the NCAA Frozen Four national title game. FSU also advanced to the WCHA Final Five Championships for the second-straight year this past season.

The Bulldogs will embark on their 41st season this coming fall and face what should represent one of the most challenging schedules in the country. The schedule is highlighted by an impressive opening month slate that will see FSU play seven regular-season outings on home ice inside the Ewigleben Ice Arena during the first month of the season with the opponents set to include a pair of returning nationally top-10 ranked foes in Michigan Tech and Minnesota State along with the first-ever visit to Big Rapids by Wisconsin and a season-opening home-and-home matchup against former conference rival Western Michigan.

Ferris State will begin the 2015-16 campaign on Saturday, Oct. 3, with a Crimson & Gold Intrasquad contest followed by an exhibition game against a Canadian opponent in the University of Lethbridge on Sunday, Oct. 4. FSU then opens the regular-season the following weekend with a home-and-home series versus Western Michigan starting on Friday, Oct. 9, in Kalamazoo with the finale on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Big Rapids serving as the Bulldogs' regular-season home opener.
