Ferris State Hockey's Annual Golf Outing Officially SOLD OUT For Sixth-Straight Year!

Big Rapids, Mich. - For the sixth consecutive year, the Ferris State University men's ice hockey program has announced its annual Bulldog Hockey Classic-Alumni Golf Outing slated for Saturday (Aug. 5) is officially SOLD OUT and FSU is expecting its largest turnout ever for the 31st annual event.

The outing, which serves as a fundraiser for the Bulldog Hockey program, takes place on Katke Golf Course's 21-hole championship course at FSU. This year marks the fourth-straight "early sellout" for the event and comes on the heels of record-breaking years each of the last five summers.

In addition, this year's sellout also comes more than two weeks prior to the event, marking the earliest sellout ever for the outing.

"This outing has become such a popular and enjoyable event for our faithful alumni, outstanding supporters of the program and friends," said FSU head coach Bob Daniels.  "We certainly thank everyone for their continued support and we are looking forward to welcoming back our former players along with having an opportunity to spend the day with so many great people."

A number of notable alumns and former Bulldog Hockey players are again expected to take part in this year's event. Recent outings have included such prominent FSU alums as Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill, four-time Stanley Cup Champion Chris Kunitz and current NHL defenseman Zach Redmond among others. Many recent players, including members of the 2012 Frozen Four squad and recent WCHA Championship teams, also annually take part.

Along with the golf outing, the events will include a morning reception for former players and coaches along with lunch at the course prior to the 18 holes of golf. A dinner and awards ceremony will follow at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center.

The weekend activities will also include the annual Little Kevin Softball Game at Hemlock Park in Big Rapids starting at 7 p.m. (ET) on Friday (Aug. 4) night, which pits local heroes from the police and firefighters force against Bulldog Hockey alumni.

A postgame reception will take place for players, family and friends on Friday night at Shooters sponsored by the FSU Blueline Club. The Bulldog Hockey Classic-Alumni Golf Outing regularly draws former and notable Bulldog Hockey players for both the softball and golf events.

The Bulldogs, who have reached the NCAA Final Eight three times since 2012, will embark on their 43rd campaign this coming fall and again face perhaps one of the country's toughest schedules as they seek their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last seven years.

The 2017-18 schedule is again highlighted by matchups against every other in-state Division I opponent from Michigan, including non-conference showdowns against Michigan, Michigan State and Western Michigan. Five of the six will make the trek to FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena, including home-and-home series' against both MSU and WMU, while the Bulldogs will face Michigan twice in Ann Arbor.

Overall, the Bulldogs will play host to five of the other six D1 programs from Michigan this coming year. It will represent the second-straight year in which the Bulldogs have faced every Michigan opponent in the same campaign after doing so this past season for the first time since 1995-96.

Along with the premier matchups against the in-state foes, the Bulldogs will also entertain challenging conference rivals such as Bemidji State and Bowling Green as part of a 16-game regular-season home schedule.

Since 2012, the Bulldogs have made three NCAA Tournament appearances and advanced to the NCAA Final Eight all three times. FSU has also won two conference regular-season championships along with capturing the WCHA's Broadmoor Trophy once as the league's Final Five Champion. Along with a Frozen Four berth and national title game showing in 2012, FSU also has reached the regional final and the final eight of the NCAA Tournament in both 2014 and 2016.
