Late Goal In Final Second Gives Northern Michigan 1-0 Victory Over Bulldogs

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State university men's ice hockey team fell 1-0 on a late goal by the Northern Michigan Wildcats in Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) play on Saturday (Oct. 14) night at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

Northern Michigan's Darien Craighead scored the lone goal of the game with half of a second remaining in regulation for the victory.

In the game, sophomore goaltender Justin Kapelmaster made 25 saves on 26 shots and fell to 0-2-0 on the season despite a strong outing for FSU.

The Wildcats got sound goaltending of their own from Atte Tolvanen, who made 35 saves on the night for a shutout, after making 40 on 42 shots a night prior.

NMU came away with six points in the WCHA standings on the weekend.

Ferris State went 0-of- on the power play for the evening but was 4-of-4 on the penalty kill.

The Bulldogs hit the road to take on the Mercyhurst Lakers in non-conference play on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 21-22) with a 7:05 p.m. (ET) puck drop on Friday and a 2:35 p.m. (ET) puck drop Saturday in Erie, Pa.
