Big Rapids, Mich. – Ferris State is set to take on Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) foe Bemidji State as the Bulldogs set to reopen conference play in their final home series for a month before a two week trip to Alaska and a bye week to open up December.

TICKET DEALS FOR VETERANS AND FAMILIES THIS WEEKEND

The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team is offering a Veteran's Appreciation and Meijer Hockey Family Night vs Bemidji State University on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15-16, at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

On Friday, Nov. 15, tickets are $9 for all Veterans. Tickets can be purchased at the Ewigleben Ice Arena Box Office in advance from Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and 9 am to 7 pm on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will wear specialized Camo Uniforms that raised over $5,000 for American Legion Post 98 in Big Rapids. Ferris State Hockey will honor all American and Canadian veterans throughout the Nov. 15 game with a special program including a ceremonial puck drop, military anthems, remembrance poppies and more for fans.

"I have always been greatly appreciative of those who serve, and served, in the US Military," Ferris State Hockey Head Coach Bob Daniels said. "I am grateful for their willingness to put themselves in harms way to protect our freedoms. Now, with a daughter serving in the US Navy, I am even more in tune with the sacrifices our young people make in serving our country."

On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Bulldogs will host their second Hockey Family Night, presented by Meijer, complete with a package of four tickets, four hot dogs, and four soft drinks for $48. Puck drop for Saturday's game is a family-friendly earlier 6:07 pm ET start in Big Rapids. Fans can buy these in advance by visiting StarTickets.com.

Fans are encouraged to wear red to Saturday night's contest, as the Bulldogs will wear their brand new red uniforms for the first time at home this season.

FERRIS STATE VS. BEMIDJI STATE: ALL-TIME HISTORY

Ferris State and Bemidji State are set to meet for the 32nd and 33rd times in program history this weekend at Ewigleben Ice Arena. Ferris State leads the series 15-12-4, though the Beavers have had the run of the results of late. All four of Ferris State's ties with the Beavers have come in the last 10 meetings. Ferris State and Bemidji State battled to 3-on-3 overtime when Trevor Recktenwald forced overtime with 10 seconds remaining in regulation on February 8 in Big Rapids before Charlie Combs ended the game for the extra point at 4:50 of the second overtime session. Ferris State met Bemidji State in the postseason in the WCHA in back-to-back seasons in 2014 and 2015, the Bulldogs won both series 2-0 in the quarterfinals, both in multi-overtime games in game-two. Scott Czarnowczan and Kyle Schempp scored the series overtime winners respectively in 2014 and 2015.

MATCH UP SET FOR THE 55TH ANNUAL GLI

Ferris State will take on the Michigan Wolverines to open the 55th Annual Great Lakes Invitational at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan - the Home of
the Detroit Red Wings - on Monday, Dec. 30. Puck drop is set for 4:00 pm ET and Ferris State will serve as the road team and wear red uniforms against Michigan. Michigan Tech and Michigan State faceoff at 1:00 pm ET. The consolation

FERRIS STATE FALLS TO WESTERN MICHIGAN IN NON-CONFERENCE PLAY

Ferris State erased a pair of one-goal deficits on the road at Western Michigan University on Friday (Nov. 8), but fell 4-2. Ferris State sophomores Jake Transit and Justin Michaelian both tallied for Ferris State as senior Austin Shaw put on a strong performance in his Bulldog debut at Lawson Ice Arena. Ferris State senior Dominic Lutz scored on Saturday at home, as did freshman Dallas Tulik. Freshman forward Jason Brancheau picked up his first collegiate point, an assist on Lutz's goal, while fellow freshman and defenseman Max Finner earned his first collegiate point, an assist on Tulik's goal on a shot-pass to the front of the Bronco goal.

BULLDOG ALUM SIMON DENIS MAKES JAPANESE NATIONAL HOCKEY TEAM

Ferris State University men's ice hockey alum Simon Denis has been named to the Japanese National Hockey team, becoming the seventh Bulldog alum to make a national team. Denis joins a small group of former Ferris State players to play for a national team, including Chris Kunitz who was an Olympic Gold Medalist for Hockey Canada in 2014 and also represented Canada at IIHF World Championships in 2008, Norm Krumpschmid (Austria, 1998-99), Bob Nardella (Italy, 1995-98, 2006), John Gruden (USA, 2002), Andy Roach (USA, 2004-05), Zach Redmond (USA, 2015), and Chad Billins, who represented the United States of America at the 2018 Olympics.
