FERRIS STATE VS. ALASKA ANCHORAGE: ALL-TIME HISTORY

Ferris State and Alaska Anchorage 23rd and 24th times in program history this coming Friday and Saturday at the Seawolf Sports Complex. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams at the Seawolf Sports Complex, as the Seawolves moved back onto campus for the 2019-20 season from the Sullivan Center. This means different ice, an NHL sized sheet in comparison to the Sullivan's Olympic Ice. The Bulldogs have a 16-3-3 all-time record against Alaska Anchorage, and have met one time in postseason play, the 2014 WCHA Final Five. The Bulldogs erased a 4-2 second period deficit in the Semi-Final game against the Seawolves, and won on Gerald Mayhew's original "Gerrytime" goal in overtime at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena. The Bulldogs went on that season to play in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

'BIG RED' CONTINUES WILD SCORING PACE

Three more points, all assists, for freshman sensation Jake Willets have continued to push him further ahead of the scoring pack amongst Bulldog skaters. Willets now has 12 points (1-11-12) in 13 games played, and is tied for a team-best +3 rating. More impressively, Willets has 10 points in eight WCHA games. Should Willets remain ahead of the pack, the Bulldogs would have a freshman defenseman wearing the #25 lead the team in scoring for the second consecutive season, as Cooper Zech led the Bulldogs last season before departing for the American Hockey League's (AHL) Providence Bruins.

BULLDOGS TOP NANOOKS ON FRIDAY IN FAIRBANKS

Three late stops by Ferris State men's ice hockey freshman goaltender Carter McPhail sealed the deal as the Bulldogs took down the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks 3-2 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) play on Friday night at the Carlson Center. Ferris State freshman defenseman Brenden Rons scored his first collegiate goal with 6:01 remaining to give the Bulldogs a late 3-2 lead in the game, while McPhail shined, picking up his first collegiate win on 35 saves. Redshirt senior defenseman Zach Yoder scored a power play goal for a 1-0 Bulldog lead, batting the puck backhanded out of the air at waist level at 13:58 of the first period.
