Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team will take on the Michigan Tech Huskies at home on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 14-15) at 7:07 pm Friday and 6:07 pm Saturday inside Ewigleben Ice Arena.

BULLDOGS TO HONOR 4X-ALL-AMERICAN VOLLEYBALL STAR ALLYSON CAPPEL SATURDAY VS. MICHIGAN TECH

Ferris State hockey will honor four-time All-American Volleyball player Allyson Cappel with a ceremonial puck drop on Saturday (Feb. 15) at 6:07 pm vs. Michigan Tech. Cappel will also be honored as the 2019 Dean Davenport Bulldog of the Year winner later in the contest. Cappel was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Player of the Year in each of her final three seasons at Ferris State, and helped guide the Bulldogs to a record sixth straight GLIAC regular season and tournament crown sweep. Cappel earned first-team All-America Honors this year as a senior, leading Ferris State with 460 kills. In her career, Cappel tallied 1,706 kills, one shy of second place all-time in Ferris State Volleyball history.

FERRIS STATE VS. MICHIGAN TECH ALL-TIME HISTORY 

Ferris State and Michigan Tech will meet for the 37th and 38th times in program history this weekend at Ewigleben Ice Arena. When the weekend is through, the Bulldogs will have seen the Huskies in four of their last six contests. Ferris State has the last laugh, a 2-1 victory over the Huskies back on January 25 at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Sophomore goaltender Roni Salmenkangas earned WCHA Goaltender of the Week Honors for his performance, stopping 57 of Michigan Tech's 60 shots on the weekend. Justin Michaelian, Marshall Moise and Hunter Wendt each tallied goals in the weekend series. Ferris State holds an all-time 19-16-1 edge over Michigan Tech. Head Coach Bob Daniels is 12-12-0 against the Huskies. The Bulldogs are 1-0 all-time in postseason play against the Huskies with the lone meeting in the 2016 WCHA Semi-Final, which Ferris State won 1-0. 

BULLDOG BITES 

Ferris State freshman defenseman Jake Willets is currently second amongst Western Collegiate Hockey Association defensemen in power play points (12), two behind Alec Rauhauser (14) of Bowling Green...Willets continues to lead the Bulldogs in point-scoring, four points ahead of Nate Kallen, Willets would become the second straight freshman to lead the Bulldogs in point-scoring if he maintains his lead. Last year, freshman defenseman Cooper Zech (Providence Bruins) led the Bulldogs in point-scoring...Kallen is currently one-goal shy of his career single-season best (7) set last year...Marshall Moise leads the Bulldogs in goal scoring with nine, a career-best. 

FERRIS STATE ANNOUNCES RECRUITING CLASS FOR FALL 2020 

The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team has announced the signing of their impressive incoming class of nine newcomers for the 2020-21 season. The class consists of five forwards, three defensemen and a goaltender. Forwards: Jacob Dirks, Mitchel Deelstra, Antonio Venuto, Stepan Pokorny, and Austin McCarthy. Defensemen: Ben Schultheis, Sam Skinner and Drew Cooper. Goaltender: Logan Stein. Of the class, Stein is ranked by NHL Central Scouting as the #29 goaltender for the upcoming June 2020 NHL Draft in Montreal, and played for the US Junior Select Team. Two of Ferris State's incoming players are currently team captains of their junior team. Pokorny (Madison), Venuto (Dubuque), Schultheis (Dubuque) and Stein (Waterloo) come from the United States Hockey League (USHL), while Deelstra (Alberni Valley) and Cooper (Coquitlam) hail from the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). McCarthy (Topeka), Dirks (Chippewa), and Skinner (Minot) play in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). 

FERRIS HOCKEY ALL-DECADE TEAM ANNOUNCED 

The 2010-2020 All-Decade Team for Ferris State Hockey has been announced. The forward lines are as follows: 1st Line - Garrett Thompson (2014), Kyle Bonis (2013), and Gerald Mayhew (2017). 2nd Line - Corey Mackin (2019), Cory Kane (2014), and Chad McDonald (2017). 3rd Line - Jordie Johnston (2012), Kyle Schempp (2016), and Travis Ouellette (2013). 4th Line - Justin Buzzeo (2015), Jared VanWormer (2017), and Kenny Babinski (2016). The defensive pairings are as follows: 1st Pairing - Chad Billins (2012) and Zach Redmond (2011). 2nd Pairing - Scott Czarnowczan (2014) and Simon Denis (2016). 3rd Pairing - Ryan Lowney (2017) and Nate Kallen (Active). CJ Motte (2015) was named the starting netminder, backed up by Taylor Nelson (2012). SALMENKANGAS EARNS WCHA GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK HONORS 

For the fifth time in his career, Salmenkangas picked up WCHA honors as the goaltender of the week. Salmenkangas had a .950 save percentage and 1.51 goals against average with a win over the Michigan Tech Huskies on the road. Salmenkangas made 57 stops on 60 shots on goal, including a 29 for 30 performance in Ferris State's Saturday night victory at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. With 13:05 left, Salmenkangas made a left-to-right push and stretched his blocker hand to the right goal post to make a game-saving highlight-reel stop. It was statistically,
