Bulldogs Out-Shoot Huskies For Second Straight Night But Fall At Home

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team outshot the Michigan Tech Huskies for a second-straight night, but fell 2-0 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) play on Saturday evening at the Ewigleben Ice Arena. 

Ferris State senior goaltender Austin Shaw made 30 saves on 31 shots faced to backstop the Bulldogs.

Michigan Tech broke the scoreless tie at 11:38 of the third period when Colin Swoyer scored on a broken play.

Later, at 19:22, Swoyer scored on the empty net to douse the Bulldog comeback attempt from 140 feet.

Ferris State outshot Michigan Tech 16-9 in the first period and 14-9 in the third period for a 36-32 edge after outshooting Michigan Tech 33-18 the night prior. The Bulldogs peppered MTU goaltender Matt Jurusik on a late power play, but were unable to even the score before Swoyer's empty net goal.

Both Ferris State and Michigan Tech went 0-2 on the man-advantage. Jurusik made a season-best 36 saves in a shutout for the Huskies.

Ferris State heads next to take on the Bowling Green State Falcons on Friday (Feb. 21) at 7:07 pm ET inside the Slater Family Ice Arena in Bowling Green, Ohio, to open a two-game WCHA road set.
