Third Ferris State Senior Turns Pro As Yoder Heads To Ferris State Alum Hotbed Toledo

Toledo, Ohio. - The Toledo Walleye of the ECHL have signed Ferris State senior defenseman Zach Yoder as of Friday (March 6) to an amateur tryout agreement.

Yoder, the Woodstock, Georgia native, marked a career-best in goals this season (4) as a net-front power play threat for the Bulldogs, converting to-and-from his defensive-defensemen style throughout his campaign.

In Toledo, Yoder joins, "Ferris State South." The Walleye have brought in several former Bulldogs over the years, and many including Simon Denis and Kyle Bonis hold team records for Toledo. Currently, former Bulldogs Bonis, Brandon Anselmini, and Justin Buzzeo are members of the Walleye. Pat Nagle has also seen time with the Walleye, though is having a successful stint in the American Hockey League (AHL) currently with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

With the signing, Yoder becomes the third member of his class to turn pro, and Ferris State's 26th alum active in professional hockey in the 2019-20 season, joining Brandon Anselmini, Chad Billins, Jason Binkley, Kyle Bonis, Justin Buzzeo, Brendan Connolly, Simon Denis, Cory Kane, Ryan Lowney, Gerald Mayhew (NHL), Frankie Melton, Troy Milam, Troy Milam, CJ Motte, Pat Nagle, Derek Nesbitt, Zach Redmond, Blair Riley, Kyle Schempp, Austin Shaw, Garrett Thompson, Jared VanWormer, Charles Williams, and Cooper Zech. 

Yoder has been assigned the number five. A former transfer from Air Force (AHA), Yoder has his Bachelor's Degree and is in the process of completing his Masters degree. Yoder is currently with the Walleye, who are on the road to take on the Indy Fuel in Indianapolis, Indiana tonight at 7:35 pm ET.
