MacDougall Named Captain Of Ferris State Hockey Team

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team has named senior Liam MacDougall as captain for the upcoming 2020-21 season. MacDougall will follow Nate Kallen and Corey Mackin as his former teammates who wore the "C."

"Liam has grown over his three-plus years, not only as a player, but as a person," Ferris State Hockey head coach Bob Daniels said. "The nice thing is during the year-end Zoom meetings with the players, returning and past players on who should be this year's captain, pretty much all mentioned Liam. I think he's going to do an outstanding job."

MacDougall, a native of Windsor, Ontario, saw a sharp increase in role from year-to-year, playing in most situations. McDougall had a pair of goals and 11 assists for 13 points during the 2018-19 season, mainly seeing ice-time in the top two lines.

"It's a tremendous honor, Ferris has had a rich history of having a lot of great players and great leaders," MacDougall said. "I'll try to fill their shoes and just try to do the best I can to lead by example."

The Bulldogs were led last season by Kallen, who has gone on to join the Maine Mariners of the ECHL after being named to the Ferris State Hockey All-Decade team.

"We're fortunate that we've got four seniors, and it's a small class, but it's a very good class and I think there's a lot of leadership potential in that group, and that'll be a leadership group I'll go to often," Daniels said.

In each season, MacDougall has improved on his point totals every campaign for Ferris State.

Daniels also noted that alternate captains will be named in the coming month. Stay tuned to FerrisStateBulldogs.com for more information.
