Bulldogs Fall On Road To Spartans In Series Opener

East Lansing, Mich. - Despite a shots on goal and territorial advantage, the Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell 2-0 to the Michigan State Spartans on Thursday (Nov. 11) at Munn Ice Arena in non-league action.

Ferris State sophomore goaltender Logan Stein made 20 stops on 21 shots faced in the loss for Ferris State.

The game was played scoreless into the third as Ferris State had a 17-14 shots on goal advantage, but it was Michigan State who got on the board first at 13:38 of the third period when Mitch Lewandowski finished as the late man on the rush for the initial goal.

Michigan State finished the scoring into the empty net at 18:44 when Aiden Gallacher fired the shot 200-feet into the open cage.

Despite a late pair of chances, Ferris State could not beat Michigan State goaltender Drew DeRidder, who picked up a 26-save shutout for the Spartans.

Both teams played discipline with just three total power plays in the game. Ferris State went 0-2 on the man advantage while Michigan State went 0-1.

The Bulldogs return to the Ewigleben Ice Arena on Saturday (Nov. 13) to take on the Spartans at 7:07 p.m. (ET). The game is nearing a sellout and fans are encouraged to buy now before the game sells out.
