Wildcats Skate Past Bulldogs Friday In Marquette

Marquette, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell 7-1 to the Northern Michigan Wildcats Friday (Feb. 25) at the Berry Events Center in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play.

Ferris State freshman forward Bradley Marek scored in his second consecutive game and ran his point streak to three games in the loss.

The Wildcats opened with a goal at 1:18 when AJ Vanderbeck made it 1-0. They extended the lead to 2-0 at 7:42 of the opening frame from David Keefer.

Northern Michigan added four in the second period, opening with Hank Crone's goal at 1:32 of the middle frame. Tanner Vescio (10:30), Keefer (12:35), and Vanderbeck (15:51) scored the other second period goals for the 6-0 lead through two.

Early in the third period, Andre Ghantous scored at 50 seconds for a 7-0 lead for NMU.

The Bulldogs cracked NMU goaltender Charlie Glockner at 7:29 on the power play when Marek tipped in a point shot by senior defenseman Brendon Michaelian (12). Junior defenseman Brenden MacLaren (4) added an assist on the play as well.

Ferris State went 1-3 on the power play and held Northern Michigan 0-3 with just two shots.

In goal, Glockner picked up the win on 28 saves. Ferris State sophomore goaltender Logan Stein took the loss on 21 saves. Senior goaltender Roni Salmenkangas made eight third period saves in relief.

Ferris State goes back to work on Saturday (Feb. 26) at 6:37 p.m. (ET) in the regular season finale against Northern Michigan at the Berry Events Center.
