Ferris Drops Match To NCAA-I Western Michigan

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad dropped a 6-1 non-league decision to NCAA Division I Western Michigan on Tuesday (March 22) in Kalamazoo.

The host Broncos took all three doubles matches, which counted as a single point in the team score per NCAA-I regulations.

WMU then won the top five singles flights at the West Hills Athletic Club as FSU dropped to 7-4 overall this campaign.

Ferris' lone win on the day came at number six singles where Tyler Marengo posted a 6-4, 2-6, 10-1 win over Western Michigan's Thomas Calderone in a three-setter.

The Bulldogs are currently ranked 40th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Poll along with sixth in the Midwest Region.

Ferris State returns home for three league contests this weekend as the Bulldogs host Tiffin, Findlay and Grand Valley State from Friday to Sunday (March 25-27) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center. 

Friday's match versus Tiffin starts at 3 p.m. (ET) with Saturday's outing against Findlay beginning at 9:30 a.m. (ET). FSU and GVSU will meet on Sunday in a 10 a.m. (ET) encounter.
