Men's Tennis Reaches GLIAC Semifinals

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team advanced into the semifinal round of the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament with a 5-2 win over Michigan Tech late Friday (April 15) night.

The fourth-seeded Bulldogs won the quarterfinal match at the Midland (Mich.) Community Tennis Center against the fifth-seeded Huskies. 

With the win, FSU will now face top-seeded Northwood in Saturday's (April 16) semifinal action starting at 4 p.m. (ET).  The winner moves onto Sunday's (April 17) title match beginning at 9 a.m. (ET) with the loser playing for third place on the final day.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-1 lead following doubles play after recording wins at the second and third doubles positions.

In singles play, FSU then three of the first four completed flights to secure the victory.  All three came in straight-sets.

Ferris State, which is ranked 41st nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Poll, currently holds a 13-7 overall mark this campaign.
