Men's Tennis Rolls Past Malone To Remain Atop GLIAC Standings

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team kept its hold on first place in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) standings as the Bulldogs completed a three-match weekend swing in Ohio by beating conference newcomer Malone 9-0 on Saturday (March 30) in Canton, Ohio.

FSU improved to 11-2 overall and 8-0 in conference play by beating Malone in the first-ever matchup against the Pioneers.

The Bulldogs dominated the doubles round by winning all three flights by identical 8-0 scores.
In singles action, FSU swept the six flights in straight-sets, which included a pair of 6-0, 6-0 decisions.

The closest singles contest came at the number one flight were FSU's top player, Laurent Galarneau, posted a 6-2, 7-6 win.

Previously, the Bulldogs topped Lake Erie and Walsh to open the trip by identical 9-0 scores on Thursday and Friday, March 28-29, respectively.

Ferris State's 8-0 mark is currently atop the GLIAC standings with Grand Valley State (7-0), Northwood (5-0) and Wayne State (4-0) also unbeaten in league competition entering the day's action.

The Bulldogs still must face all three schools to wrap up league regular-season action. The stretch starts on Wednesday (April 3) as FSU visits Wayne State for a 2 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Detroit. FSU then visits Northwood on April 9 before hosting Grand Valley State in its final conference regular-season tilt on April 12.

Overall, the Bulldogs have presently won their last five matches in a row to date and FSU's only setbacks this season have came against NCAA Division I competition.
