Men's Tennis Rallies For Impressive Regional Victory On The Road

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team scored a key regional victory on the road over Lewis (Ill.) on Sunday (April 14) in non-conference action at Romeoville, Ill.

The Bulldogs took a 5-4 win over the Flyers to improve to 13-4 overall this season.

FSU entered the match ranked 34th nationally and second in the Midwest Region while the Flyers were close behind at number 36 in the national poll and fourth in the regional listing.  LU fell to 7-6 overall this season with the setback.

Ferris State dropped all three doubles matches as the Flyers built a 3-0 edge heading into the singles round.  LU also scored a win at the top singles position with Armand Levandi claiming a 6-2, 6-3 win over FSU's Laurent Galarneau in a battle of regionally-ranked competitors.

However, the Bulldogs rallied by winning the last five singles positions to score the victory. Sergiu Laza posted a straight-set win at second singles with Otto Keresztes doing likewise at the fifth spot and Aaron Dial winning in consecutive fashion at the sixth flight.

FSU also received deciding three-set triumphs from seniors Tyler Marengo and Razvan Mag at the numbers three and four singles flights, respectively.

The contest took place at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex in Romeoville.
