Men's Tennis Falls In NCAA Midwest Regional Final At Southern Indiana

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team had its season come to a close on Sunday (April 28) as the Bulldogs fell to top-seeded Southern Indiana on the road in the 2013 NCAA Division II Tournament at Evansville, Ind.

The Screaming Eagles took a 5-0 win over the fourth-seeded Bulldogs to capture one of two Midwest Regional titles and move on to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen on May 8-11 in Surprise, Ariz.

The Bulldogs had opened the NCAA Tournament with a 5-3 win over Rockhurst (Mo.) on Saturday night in Evansville, but Southern Indiana was well-rested following its opening round bye and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Champions used the homecourt advantage to capture the win at the USI Tennis Courts.

Southern Indiana swept the three doubles matches and then won the first two completed singles flights to end the Bulldogs' season at 16-6 overall under first-year head coach Chad Berryhill.

The Bulldogs were making their 18th overall NCAA-II Tournament appearance, including a second-straight showing after returning to the field for the first time since 2010 a year ago. Prior to 2011, the Bulldogs had made 13 consecutive trips to the regional tournament.

Besides reaching the regional final, Ferris State also earned runner-up honors at the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament held a week ago in Midland and has been ranked as high as second in the region and 34th nationally in Berryhill's first season at the helm.

Three seniors were members of FSU's 2012-13 squad, including a pair who participated in the NCAA Tournament in Tyler Marengo and Razvan Mag
