#33 Bulldogs Drop GLIAC Men's Tennis Opener At Tiffin In Close Fashion

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 33rd-ranked Ferris State University men's tennis team hit the road for its first official Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match of the season, but fell short in a 5-4 setback to Tiffin on Friday (Feb. 21) night at the Heminger Center in Tiffin, Ohio.

The host Dragons won the league opener between the two teams as TU fought back from an early deficit to pull out the comeback win.

Ferris State built a 2-1 lead following doubles play as FSU captured wins at the first and second flights.

However, Tiffin responded in singles action as they swept the two, three, four and five spots to record the victory.

FSU's singles wins came from Laurent Galarneau at the number one spot in a three-setter along with a straight-set win from freshman Andre Giacomazzi Serafim at the bottom of the lineup.

In doubles play, the top tandem of Galarneau and Aaron Dial posted an 8-5 win while the number two team of Otto Keresztes and Laurent Mailloux recorded an 8-6 victory.

Ferris State dropped to 1-2 overall this season with the loss against Tiffin, which moved to 5-3 overall.

The Bulldogs will continue a three-match weekend road swing in league action as FSU next squares off against Ohio Dominican on Saturday (Feb. 22) starting at 2 p.m. (ET) in Columbus, Ohio. Ferris State then visits Findlay on Sunday (Feb. 23) beginning at 12 p.m. (ET) in Findlay, Ohio.
