Ferris State Stays Unbeaten & Atop GLIAC Standings With Victory In Upper Peninsula

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally-ranked Ferris State University men's tennis team stayed unbeaten in conference play and atop the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) standings as FSU opened up a two-match trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula with a 9-0 sweep over Michigan Tech on Saturday (March 28) in Houghton.

The Bulldogs, ranked 47th in the nation and fifth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Rankings, won their 10th match of the season in moving to 10-5 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Ferris State swept the doubles round, winning each of the three flights in convincing fashion by scores of 8-3, 8-3 and 8-0 from one to three, respectively.

In singles competition, Ferris State pulled out wins in all six positions, including a three-set triumph from senior Laurent Galarneau at the number one flight. The other five wins all came in straight-sets.

Michigan Tech dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in league play with the loss at the Gates Tennis Center.

Ferris State concludes its weekend trip by visiting Lake Superior State on Sunday (March 29) for a 10 a.m. (ET) conference tilt in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
