Ferris State Sweeps Davenport & Aquinas To Open Men's Tennis Spring Campaign
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad opened the spring campaign in strong fashion on Friday (Feb. 5) as the nationally-ranked Bulldogs swept a non-league home doubleheader at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
The Bulldogs won their early match against Davenport by a 9-0 count and then came back on Friday evening to post a 7-2 win over Aquinas in the rare twinbill.
Ferris State swept Davenport in match one by rolling to a sweep in the doubles round and then capturing all six singles positions in straight-sets.
In the win over Aquinas, the Bulldogs took the top two doubles spots and pulled out wins in five of six singles flights to move to 2-0 on the year.
Several newcomers saw their first regular-season dual action for the Bulldogs on the day.
The Bulldogs will return to the court on Feb. 15 as FSU visits NCAA Division I Western Michigan for a 7 p.m. (ET) non-league battle in Kalamazoo. The Bulldogs then host Salem International, St. Joseph's (Ind.) and Lewis (Ill.) three consecutive days from Feb. 19-21 at the Racquet and Fitness Center.
