Huge Weekend Of Home Action For Unbeaten Ferris State Men's Tennis Squad
Big Rapids, Mich. - The unbeaten Ferris State University men's tennis team has a big weekend ahead as the Bulldogs play host to three opponents at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
The 2-0 Bulldogs, who beat both Davenport and Aquinas handily in non-league play last week, will square off against regional rival Indianapolis on Friday (Feb. 24) to open a three-match weekend homestand. The non-league contest gets underway at 1 p.m. (ET).
Friday's matchup will pit the top two teams in the region as FSU is presently ranked first in the Oracle/ITA Division II Midwest Rankings with the Greyhounds second in the region. Both teams are also ranked nationally with FSU 20th and UIndy 29th in the latest national poll.
As part of Friday's match, fans will receive free admission and a chance to win prizes between the singles and doubles round at approximately 2 p.m.
Following Friday's regional showdown, the Bulldogs then open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at home against Findlay on Saturday (Feb. 25) starting at 12 p.m. (ET).
Finally, Ferris State concludes the weekend home set versus Hillsdale on Sunday (Feb. 26) in another match slated to begin at 12 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
The Bulldogs will not be back at home after the weekend homestand until April 7 when they face longtime league rival Northwood at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
A year ago, the Bulldogs posted a school all-time best 25-5 overall record and reached the NCAA Division II Final Four for the first time in school history. FSU also won its second-straight GLIAC Regular Season Championship and claimed the league tournament title for the first time since 2012.
