Ferris State Men's Tennis Has Strong Weekend At Warhawk Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad opened the 2017-18 season by competing in the Warhawk Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 8-9) in Whitewater, Wis.

The Bulldogs advanced all five competing individuals the semifinals in the singles draw with three reaching the title round in the flight-based competition.

FSU's Steward Sell placed fourth in the #1 singles draw while Mathis Guerre took fourth at #2 singles.

The Bulldogs' Nur Adim Iswan came in second in the #3 singles bracket with Simon Levy garnering runner-up honors at the #4 flight.

Ferris State had one individual champion in singles as Austin DeBruyne won three consecutive matches to claim the #5 singles title.

In doubles action, the Bulldogs' tandem of Sell and Iswan also emerged as the champions as they won the #1 doubles draw in convincing fashion.

Meanwhile, DeBruyne and Guerre teamed up to take fourth place at #2 doubles.

The Bulldogs are slated to return to action Sept. 15-17 at the 2017 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships in Allendale.
