Ferris State Tennis Splits Men's And Women's Matches Against Lewis

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads split a non-league regional tilt against the Lewis Flyers on Friday (March 23) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The nationally 25th-ranked Bulldog men pulled out a 5-4 triumph over Lewis while the women's team fell 6-3 in its encounter versus the Flyers at home.

In the men's contest, the Flyers built a 2-1 lead following the doubles round with victories at the top two flights before FSU rallied in singles play. Ferris State managed to take four of the six singles flights en route to the win.

Both Mathis Guerre and Pablo Munoz Baroja were double winners for the men as they combined for a win at three doubles and then took victories at the fifth and sixth singles spots, respectively.

The win was the seventh in a row for FSU and the Bulldogs improved to 10-2 overall this campaign with the victory.

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Lewis also took two of three doubles flights and held a 2-1 edge in the match entering the singles play.

In singles action, Ferris State got default wins from Adriana Fabrizio and Nicole Stay at the fifth and sixth positions, respectively, but Lewis captured the top four flights to earn the win.

The match was the final encounter of the year for the women, who closed the year with a 7-12 mark in regular-season action.
